Transinsular, a company belonging to the ETE Group, has once again been awarded the contract following an international tender launched by the Government of the Autonomous Region of the Azores for the transport of fuel between the various islands of the region for the next six years. Until 2029, supplies will continue to be guaranteed by the tanker “São Jorge”, a vessel owned by Transinsular which is permanently based in the Azores, ensuring the distribution of various types of fuel for maritime, road and air transport, as well as for the archipelago’s energy production (handling around 80,000 tonnes per year).

Transinsular’s winning bid stems from the company’s ongoing and strong commitment to the Autonomous Region of the Azores and its population, given the importance and responsibility of this service, which is absolutely essential to the normal functioning of community life and the local economy.

It should be noted that the vessel São Jorge operates under the Portuguese flag with a Portuguese crew; given its characteristics and quality, it serves as a guarantee for the promotion of high-quality maritime transport at a national level.
