Port Operations and Concessions

The ETE Group manages port operations at Portugal’s main ports, through concessions and on a free-quay basis, contributing to an integrated, efficient and high-quality service throughout the entire logistics chain. ​

Port Concessions

The ETE Group holds four port concessions in Portugal’s largest and busiest ports:

  • Leixões;

  • Lisbon;

  • Setúbal;

  • Sines;

Port Operations

In addition to these concessions, the ETE Group operates on a free-quay basis at four strategically located ports, strengthening its national coverage and its ability to meet its customers’ needs:​

  • Viana do Castelo;

  • Aveiro;

  • Figueira da Foz;

  • Azores;

Aveiport is one of three companies licensed to operate as a port operator at the port of Aveiro under a free-quay regime.

It has been part of the ETE Group since 2007 and has been consolidating its position as market leader, providing handling services for various types of cargo, such as solid bulk (food and non-food), project cargo, second-hand cargo and general cargo.

Furthermore, Aveiport is the only operator to provide weight control services at the Aveiro port terminal, offering daily activity reports which are shared with customers, its own infrastructure – including warehouses for general cargo, bulk goods, steel products and wood pellets – as well as its own workshop within the port grounds.

  • Annual handling of 850,000 tonnes of bulk cargo; 

  • Annual handling of 350,000 tonnes of general cargo;

To ensure maximum efficiency and quality in its operations, it has:

1. Own cargo-handling equipment:

  • 2 mobile cranes with a capacity of up to 104 tonnes;

  • 1 rail-mounted crane with a capacity of up to 39 tonnes;

  • Bulk cargo hoppers;

  • Forklift trucks, front-end loaders and reach stackers;

  • Conveyor belts for ship loading;

2. Technical department with its own workshop within the port premises:

  • 4 covered warehouses totalling 8,400 m² dedicated to bulk cargo;

  • 1 warehouse with 1,400 m² dedicated to general cargo;

  • 1 warehouse with 1,400 m² dedicated to steel products, equipped with a 30-tonne overhead crane;

  • 1 silo with a capacity of 6,600 tonnes for storing wood pellets;
