Grupo ETE inaugurates Multidisciplinary Logistics Centre on the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde

A strategic investment that reinforces the Group’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in logistics distribution efficiency, and to the quality of services provided in Cape Verde.

Located in Lazareto, on the island of São Vicente, the new logistics centre benefits from a privileged location close to Mindelo’s industrial zone, facilitating the access and movement of goods. With an area of approximately 11,500m², the centre provides over 1,050m² dedicated to storage and also includes temperature-controlled areas for efficient handling and storage of refrigerated and frozen goods, promoting increased trade especially between the islands of Santo Antão and São Vicente, and the more tourist-focused islands of Sal and Boavista. In addition to consolidating the Grupo ETE’s logistics operations in Cape Verde, this investment aims to directly support the activities of the Group’s local companies, such as ETE Logística Cabo Verde, Transinsular Cabo Verde, and CV Interilhas – ensuring higher quality in the transport of goods and general cargo – as well as providing specialised support services in the areas of naval engineering, offered by S&C Cabo Verde.

Thanks to the privileged location of the new logistics centre – close to the airport and just a few minutes from the Port of Mindelo in São Vicente – this new infrastructure and the reinforcement of the range of logistics services will also increase the availability of the local product distribution chain between the islands, both nationally and internationally. The new logistics centre has features that enable a faster response in the capillary distribution chain, adding competencies to national distribution. In addition to having more modern infrastructures with greater capacity for organising and accommodating loads and/or small goods, this new space is equipped with three loading and unloading docks, a loading ramp, and is supported by a road fleet that daily supports the distribution of cargo between the port area and the industrial area. This new logistics centre also brings with it multidisciplinarity, soon enabling a space entirely dedicated to support services in the field of naval engineering.

The integration of modern storage solutions and the diversification of logistics services thus enable the Group to provide an efficient response to the needs of the local market and the operations of CV Interilhas. The centre was designed to evolve according to market needs, to guarantee a swift, efficient, and personalised service, with a focus on refrigerated transport, which is fundamental for the distribution of island products. This investment is a step in the continuous investment of the ETE Group in higher quality infrastructure and more efficient solutions to ensure the best service to its customers.

“The new logistics centre in Mindelo is an important milestone in reinforcing our operations in Cape Verde. With this investment, we are raising the standards of quality and efficiency in the transport of cargo, products, and goods between all the islands. Furthermore, this investment also reflects Grupo ETE’s commitment to sustainability and social development. The new structure will create local employment opportunities and promote synergies with local partners, contributing to the economic growth of the region and consequently, the country.”

Says Jorge Maurício, Grupo ETE’s Board Member in Cape Verde.

It should be noted that in Cape Verde, Grupo ETE has an area of approximately 4,000m² of covered storage (in total), including areas exclusively dedicated to temperature-controlled storage, as well as more than 10,000m² of uncovered storage area, being present on the main islands. It has its own fleet consisting of 7 trucks, 24 trailers, 12 distribution vehicles at ambient temperature and in temperature-controlled conditions, to ensure logistic operations throughout the country.
